Maine’s First Ship – Virginia<\/strong> <\/strong><\/em>was built in 1607-1608 and became the first ocean going ship built in America. This photo, by Russ Bolt, shows the reconstructed ship. Built by volunteers in Bath, Maine– City of Ships<\/em>. She was launched in 2022 and now docks at the local Freight Shed on the Kennebec River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photo below is of a 17 century style pocket bag designed and knit by Viviana<\/strong><\/em>. The bag was used by sailors and others in the 17 century for personal items such as coins, combs, or small tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viviana’s<\/em><\/strong> pocket was designed to reflect the image (lines) of Maine’s First Ship. https:\/\/mfship.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
